Good-bye Google+

by Feb 24, 2019Google, SEO

Google PlusIn December 2018 Google announced it would shut down Google+ for consumers in April 2019.  The reason given is “due to low usage and challenges involved in maintaining a successful product”.

Google+ struggled from the beginning.  It was actually part of an online identity movement in the beginning.  But that movement didn’t evolve and so Google+ was re-focused and became a social-media-like product.

As with many products that attempt to shift into a purpose it was not originally designed for, it has finally reached a point where it is no longer sustainable.

If you have used Google+ as part of your website or SEO strategy you will need to make the appropriate changes.

If you have content posted there that you want to maintain log in and download it soon.  Google+ will begin to be unavailable beginning April 2, 2019.
